Rhodes’ Land Registry (Κτηματολόγιο) was founded by the Italians that occupied Rhodes between 1912 -1944. According to the Law Decree 132/01-09-1929 under the title «Norme per l’’accertamento e la conservation dei diritti fondiari nelle isole dell’Egeo». Italian Governor Mario Lago has launched an institution that so far is still unique in Greece.
The Italians have surveyed with precision the whole island of Rhodes and Kos and registered all types of property ownership. These maps are still used today and are very precise.

Ιt’s records cover the whole extension of the island of Rhodes. In the Land Registry there are details regarding every real estate of the island. These details include the whole history of every land or building plot which has its own number and registration details, the land registry maps, the file for each property (which consists of the registration booklet and the plan of the specific land or building plot), the land registry books and the numbered applications and deeds regarding the land or building plots. Within the Cadastre of Rhodes there is also the land registry of Tilos and Chalki.

The land registry of Kastellorizo (Megisti) is kept by a notary in Rhodes.

From the Land Registry files the lawyer can determine the status of your title. The attorney can determine if there are any burdens or liens against the estate and then advise you as to what steps to take to clear your title.

Land Registry Research is necessary especially if you are going to purchase a real estate in Rhodes Greece or in these other islands of Dodecanese Greece.
