The village is located hinterland off the west coast and overlooked by the foothills of Filerimos, a lush and green area. A favoured location being a short distance from the airport and Rhodes town centre, with the beaches of kremasti and Ialysos close by. All local amenities can be found located around the centre of the village including a bakery, supermarket and cafeterias. Pastida has a regular bus service to and from the airport and Rhodes centre.
A popular place to visit is the Bee and Honey museum found just outside the village on the main road.
The name Pastida means bastion or fortress.
