The village is a point of particular interest due to its spectacular Venetian castle and the church of Agios Ioannis whose walls are adorned with 16th century paintings. The castle is set on a hill high above the village and was constructed by the Knights of St John who built it originally on three levels with each level being assigned to a different Grand Master. The views from the castle are stunning and look out to the nearby island of Halki and the port of Kameiros. Every year in June the Medieval Rose Festival takes place here.
